Description
Coastal brown bear cubs looking for their mum in Silver Salmon Creek, Alaska.
In Lake Clark National Park, the female have learned to take advantage of human presence.
Mothers with cubs are particularly aware of the danger male bears represent for their offspring. Almost one-in-three cubs are killed by males during the mating season, which extends from early May to mid July.
For this reason, female bears are more prone this time of year to get close to humans, knowing that the big males generally try to stay away from people.
