Description
The ancient archaeological site Mea'e Te l'Ipona, high above the Puama’u village, in the mountains of Hiva Oa, is home of the largest "tikis" (ancient, human-like religious stone sculptures) in French Polynesia.
The largest tiki in the Marquesas islands is Tiki Takai’i. This 2.43 m (8 feet) tall stone sculpture represents a powerful chieftain and warrior and now is a guardian spirit of this valley.
